Kai drives community change with Salesforce.

Salesforce brings companies and customers together through cloud-based software and community-building. After three years working in recruiting at the company, Kai Johnson felt empowered to pitch her own idea for a new role — and she won it.

Now, as a senior manager in field marketing at Salesforce, she leads values-based marketing and CEO engagement, partnering with companies and customers to make a positive impact on the community in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“This role speaks to my core values: I have a unique passion for giving back to the underserved and underrepresented. Now, I'm able to use my professional marketing expertise and my passion for giving back, all in one. I was able to create my dream job.”

Millions of underserved people worldwide have found greater opportunities by embracing technology and adopting new skills. Kai is passionate about helping them get there. In partnership with nonprofit organizations in the Indianapolis area, she and her team have helped countless members of underrepresented communities learn technological skills and discover the Salesforce ecosystem — paving the way toward careers in Salesforce administration and development.

When she thinks about the future, she feels Indianapolis is truly the place where she has the greatest opportunity to leverage the power of Salesforce to drive community service, sustainability, and social justice initiatives.

We give 1% of our equity, 1% of our time, and 1% of our product back to the community,” said Kai. “We want to create a better planet and a better world for all, and I’m grateful for the chance to do that with underserved communities here in Indianapolis.”
